What Does A Bulging Vein On The Wrist Indicate?

i noticed a bulging vein on my wrist last night. It hurt when I moved my wrist. I don t remember hitting my wrist or any cause for injury. Now, There s a bruise on the same vein and still bulging, a bit swollen. If it s a blood clot, can it wait or is it considered a medical emergency?

Hi,

Very likely you have hurt the area especially if a bruise is noticeable there. If the vein is hit it may become like a cordon and more palpable and it is generally nothing to worry. Just try to not poke it much, you can use cold compresses locally if it is painful and just watch it with time.

Normally it should get better in 7-10 days. If there is no improvement during this time or you notice any worsening, like spreading of the bruised are or the bulged vein, or any new symptoms please see your doctor.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
