Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi, I recently had a thyroid test because I have many hypo-thyroid symptoms (plus some auto-immune diseases in my immediate family, for example my son has type 1 diabetes). My thyroid results were TSH = 3.1 and Free T4 = 12. These are in range but the TSH is close to the top end of normal and the Free T4 is close to the bottom. My doc won't treat me at this level.
My question is whether, without treatment, these levels will stay the same or whether they will get worse? I guess I'm asking whether whacky thyroid numbers (albeit in range) are a sign that my symptoms are going to get worse if I remain untreated? Many thanks in advance.
