What Do This Dosage Of Insulin To Control Fasting Blood Sugar Level Indicate?
I have been put on insulin for type 1 diabetes. I have been increasing the insulin 2 units every two days for 20 and my fasting blood sugar has only dropped 30 points. I am still in the two hundreds or near to two hundred. How long should it take for the insulin to bring it down?

General & Family Physician, Dr. Priyanka's Response
Hi,
The dosage and timing of insulin required to control blood sugar levels can vary from person to person, and it can take time to find the right dose that works for an individual. Typically, doctors will start with a conservative dose and adjust it based on the patient's blood sugar readings. In your case, increasing the insulin by 2 units every two days for 20 days may not have been enough to bring down your fasting blood sugar levels.
It is important to work closely with your healthcare provider to adjust your insulin dosage as needed and monitor your blood sugar levels regularly. They may recommend additional changes to your diet, exercise routine, or medication regimen to help improve your blood sugar control.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Priyanka, General & Family Physician
