Hi, the previous result of my SGOT- 80 and SGPT-100. I was given an Essential Forte capsules to be taken once a day for 7 days. After 7 days They took another test. This time SGOT is normal but SGPT is still 100...I was advice to have an ultrasound this week..What could this mean.. Is this serious? is this treatable. I only drink occasionally and I don t smoke. Thanks for your time and looking forward for your reply.
Hi, Thanks for posting in HCM. I understand your concern. SGOT and SGPT are enzymes that are estimated to assess liver function. If it remains elevated, it says there is some pathology in hepatobiliary system (liver and/or gall bladder). Commonly it is elevated due to fatty liver or gall stone disease. SGPT is more specific enzyme for liver. Kindly get ultrasound abdomen done as advised to see what could be the problem. Also, getting blood levels checked for Serum bilirubin, Alkaline pohosphatase and Gamma Glutamyl transferse (GGT) could be useful in the diagnosis. Kindly get the investigations done and consult your Physician for appropriate management. Hope the information provided would be helpful. All the best.
