What Do The Scan Results Indicate?

What does this mean in laymen terms:Mild prominence of the sulci and ventricles, consistent with age associated brain atrophy. There is hypometabolism involving the temporal lobe and posterior parietal lobe bilaterally, though more pronounced on the left. There is also hypometabolism involving the left posterior cingulate gyrus and precuneus.Thank you

Hi,
Thanks for writing in.

The description of mild prominence of the sulci and ventricles means that the markings on the brain surface are more deeper and this is a finding of age related changes in the human brain. The word hypometabolism refers to conditions where there is slightly less blood flow and subsequent brain perfusion in certain areas mentioned. This is also a finding associated with age related decreased brain flow if seen in the older age group.
