What Do Tenderness And Pain In Lower Abdomen Suggest?

I am a 63 year old male in good health. I have tenderness and some pain in my lower abdomen. It prevented me from sleeping much of the night. It is getting somewhat better. I thought I had gas or needed a bowel movement but took a laxitive and the symptoms continued. Never had this before. I rested most of the day and felt out of sorts .

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

At the age of 63 most of the time Prostate gland causes the pain in lower abdomen. It also causes urinary incontinence. I suggest you to consult a surgeon and get an ultrasound lower abdomen,to rule out prostatomegaly and appendicitis.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Pramod Kokare, General & Family Physician
