What Do Red Spots On The Soles Of The Feet Indicate?

My 4.5 year old seems to have gotten a small red spot under his foot possibly caused by a thorn puncture a day ago. It was red and looked like it had a faint dark line under the skin. So I used a sterile needle and broke the skin and a tiny bit of clear liquid came out and I wiped it with Surgical Alcohol. It did not bleed but it hurt and my son did not want me to touch it again. I did not pull out anything so I am not sure if the piece of torn or wood splinter or whatever it is, is still in there. I put Neosporin on it and gave children s pain medication and put my son to bed. So now the skin is broken but I can t tell if there is anything in there or if it was just a thorn puncture. What should I do?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

It could be plantar wart. We have to rule out other possibilities also. You can consult a dermatologist and plan for cauterization or cryosurgery.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain,
