What Do Red Spots Around The Anus Indicate?

My 11 month baby boy has red spots around his anus. I visited a doc near my house who mentioned that stools being acidic in nature have caused that redness. The lotion he gave cleared the redness but bleached his skin color to pink. After a few days, the red spots have reappeared. What should I do? My baby is on my milk & never constipated. I tried applying coconut oil but no use. Pls help. Thank you.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

The symptoms seem to be related to diaper rash. I suggest you:
- Keep your child clean and dry by changing his diaper frequently.
- Pat your child's skin dry.
Don't rub
- Use an ointment
- Put your child's diaper on loosely

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi
