What Do Red Patches On The Vulva Indicate?

Hi, I’ve had very red, but not painful, patches on my vulva, it’s on both sides and sometimes on the hood. It feels irritated more than painful. I had some swabs done at my gp, but nothing was found but the cream they gave me does nothing to help. It’s been there for 8 months now, it never gets worse or better, no matter what I try. I haven’t had sex in over a year. It’s totally affecting my life and causing a lot of stress. There’s no blisters or spots. My coil is coming to due to be removed at the end of the year and I wondered if it might be an issue with that? I’ve also got thyroid and b12 problems but I take regular medication. Any help would be appreciated

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

If your red spots are not painful then why you are not enjoying your sexual life? I don't know what irritation or something is holding you back.

Since you say swabs are negative, then I don't think any infection would have caused this. If it's still hurting, you can get a biopsy done again with other doctors.

But if that also comes normal then all your problems are in mind rather than your body. Don't you think you have become over conscious about your body and wasting your life without enjoyment.

Life is precious, you don't know who will die when. So don't waste it just like this.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Archana
