What Do Persistent Coughs In An Elderly Person Indicate?
im 71 year old male... this past year ive been sick coughing up phlegm ive been to urgent care a couple times and had xrays done and everything was clear they ounce told me I had walking pneumonia that it would take a while to clear up... Im concerned now again because its back the hacking up phlegm a small pain in the back what else could this be
You are having chronic cough... For that following work up done.... -Auscultation -Chest x ray digital PA view -pulmonary function test (will diagnose and distinguish between obstructive and restrictive disease)
According to cause specific treatment given
If no specific cause found like bronchitis, copd, pneumonia than it could be allergic cough and for that fexofenedine like drug prescribed CBC and AEC count can be done for that...
For non specific dry cough antihistaminic drug like phenylephrine prescribed

Consult pulmonologoist for examination and further work up accordingly
