Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Do Pain And Swelling On The Left Shin Indicate?
Soreness and swelling on the front left outside shin, to the outside of the tibia, 1/3 of the way up from the ankle to the knee. It hurts to lift my to toes, particularly my smaller toes. OK walking uphill on the balls of my feet, very painful walking downhill heel striking. I am a runner. I think this is tendonitis or bursitis. Could it be more ominous?
The above-mentioned symptoms suggest underlying cellulitis for various reasons.
The Primary relief is with foot end elevation, ice application, preventing direct pressure, analgesic medicines along with a priority visit to your family doctor for further care.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Purva Patel
