What Do Fever And Pain In The Urethra Indicate?

Hi, I did a home UTI test and it was positive for Leukocytes and negative for Nitrites. I have a fever of 100*F and I have pain in my urethra and bladder. Do I likely have a UTI??? I am also prone to BV and this has caused me pain in my urethra before and I have mistaken it for a UTI so I am confused right now since the Nitrates are negative in my urine.

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

As you stated, nitrites are usually positive in urinary tract infections along with leukocytes.
If a repeat urine analysis showed the same results then infection is not likely and there is another source for your symptoms.

BV and some other genital tract infections can also cause discomfort and would also cause leukocytes as well.
You may need to be treated for one of this.

A vaginal swab may be needed to determine the exact source of infection so that the correct treatment can be started.

I hope this helps
