What Do Diarrhea And Cramps During Pregnancy Suggest?

Hello. I am 38 weeks pregnant and I have had, sorry for tmi, diarrhea all day, bad back cramping, and a slow leaking. I do not know if it is amniotic fluid or not but the nurses at labor and delivery told me not to come in unless I know my water broke or I couldn t walk/talk through the pain. Any suggestions?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
I understand your concern.
You are very near to your due date. First remember, Leaking or bleeding from vagina, severe abdominal pain, headache, blurring of vision - if you have any of these symptoms you should immediately visit your gynecologist.
For diarrhea you should drink as much of ORS (Oral Rehydration Solution) as you can. Eat curd or drink buttermilk. Avoid spicy and fried foods.
The viral diarrhea will subside with this. You should take antibiotic only under your gynecologist advice.
Hope this will help you.
