What Do Cramps After Missing Birth Control Pills Suggest?
Hello, I m on birth control, but I missed 4 pills this month. I was supposed to start my period 4 days ago. I have cramps once in awhile. Also frequently going to the bathroom. Although not all the time when I wipe there is a little blood. No clots, some was brownish some was pinkish. What is going on with me? Is it my period, or could it be implantation?
Unfortunately, it sounds like you are having an abnormal period. Pregnancy is also a possibility but there are other potential causes of having a late or no period at all this month. Stress, dieting, hormone changes, increased activity, tobacco use, infections, and taking birth control pills are just some reasons why you're having an abnormal period. Most women will resume their period soon as things normalize. If you are concerned, you can see a medical provider to get a physical exam. You can also wait to see if your period returns to normal and check a pregnancy test at home.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Timothy Wong, General & Family Physician
