What Do Bruises On The Eyelids Indicate?

I woke up with a 2 bruise on my eyelid and am wondering if it s something I should be worried about. I m a 76 year old woman in very good health. Two days ago I took an airplane trip from Denver CO to Philadelphia PA then drove 1-1/2 hours to my destination in the Poconos Mountains, Blakeslee Pa.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

It might be due to compression effects during sleep. Nothing much to worry and no treatment is required. In elderly the tiny blood vessels are very fragile and you will get bruises easily. It will subside spontaneously with in couple of days. You can apply ice packs for faster recovery.

Wishing you good health.

Thanks
