Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Do Absence Of Periods After Taking Meprate Tablets Indicate?
I am a 40 year old woman with 4 children. I am having hyperthyroid. My periods are delayed by 60-90 days. On advice of my doctor I took meprate twice a day for 5 days. But now after 3 days of stopping the tablet I have not got my periods. I am worried. Incidentally I suffered severe pain in my right breast on upper portion after stopping the tablet. Now itvis slowly subsiding. Please advise.
I would advise you to wait for few more days it takes a week and up to 15 days for periods to come after stopping. However, if periods does not come within 15 days, you need to visit a gynecologist to get one ultrasound done, as Meprate will be effective only if your endometrial thickness is good, ≥7mm. I am assuming pregnancy is out of the question.
Breast irritation and pain may be related to hormonal changes, however, if it occurs again consult a doctor. Continue with hyperthyroid treatment.
Hope this was useful. Do let me know if you have any more questions.
Regards, Dr. Akash Kumar
