Hi,
You seem right. Definitely, these may be callous knots. Callouses are thick hardened layers of skin, that develop, when the skin tries to protect itself against friction or pressure. These more frequently develop on the soles of feet or under surface of toes.
If, you are health and these are not causing any discomfort to you, these do not need any treatment. For treating the callouses
- Always wear comfortable shoes, socks and not very tight, so that these do not tighten and squeeze your skin.
- Soaking callouses in warm ,soapy water will make the thick skin of callouses thin and soft, which may be easy to be removed.
- Once the affected skin is softened and thin, rub the affected skin with a pumice stone, nail file, emery board or wash cloth.
- Keep your skin moisturized by use of moisturizers.
- Use
corn pads or foam pads to protect the area of callous.
- Use of medicated patches containing 40%
salicylic acid.
- Use of shoe inserts
- Trimming away of excessive skin, by a health care provider
- Surgery for correction of alignment of bone causing friction.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
