What Could Thickening Of Ileum In The Below Sonography Results Predict?

sonography shows thickening of terminal ilieum and caecum with associated mesentric fat stranding. The appendix is not identified separately. No size significant lymphomodes / free fluid is seen.

Dr. advice CT scan and colonoscopy.What does it means.

Hello

Thickening of ileum and caecum may indicate colitis.It many be due to many causes like bacterial,autoimmune causes etc.
This condition also need clinical correlation.It is also important to exclude tubercular etiology.
You are rightly advised for further investigations like CT scan and colonoscopy.
CT scan of abdomen will evaluate involved area thoroughly.
Colonoscopy is advised for direct visualization.Biopsy may be taken during the procedure.
You also need routine investigations.
Treatment depend upon findings.
