My husband developed a red spot on his left lower leg just above the ankle. The red is circular. Today s it is bright red, hot, and the swelling has spread to his ankle. I push into his ankle and he complains because of the pain. I can t find an entrance wound or opening that might indicate a bite. It s painful to the touch and it burs.

Dermatologist 's  Response
Hi...

I think the lesion you developed may be insect bite dermatitis. Kindly consult the dermatologist for the perfect diagnosis and proper treatment.

I would suggest....

- oral steroid in tapering dose
- antihistaminics
- antibiotic
- apply antibiotic cream

I hope this would help you.
