What Could Recurring, Hard, Sore, Growing Lump On The Inside Of Thigh Indicate?

Hi i have had a large lump on the inside of my thigh for about a year now. It comes and goes every couple of months. It looks like a bruise but has started to get a lot bigger the last few days and really hard and sore. Do you have an idea of what it could be. The last time i went to my go about it he said it was an ingrowing hair. Thanks

Pathologist and Microbiologist 's  Response
Hello,

A large recurring hard lump needs to be investigated with radiological and pathological examination. I suggest you to consult a physician for clinical assessment. An ingrown hair is unlikely to cause a large and hard lump. Swelling arising from soft tissues or bone need to be ruled out.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shailja Puri, Pathologist and Microbiologist
