What Could Lymph Node Enlargement In Chest And Neck Indicate?
Hello, my brother has been suffering from tonsillitis since February. He did not respond to multiple rounds of antibiotics so the doctor got him to have ct scan which showed lymph node enlargement in chest and neck last week. He had a biopsy few days ago to check for lymphoma. The result has not come out yet and We are very very anxious. He does not have any symptoms of lymphoma. His tonsil has hardened since yesterday. He is 25 years old and in the US all by his own. The doctors have suspected sarcoidosis in lack of symptoms for lymphoma. Is there any assurance for us that he will be fine?
There can be various etiology for the lymph node enlargement in the chest and neck such as: - Chronic or recurrent upper or lower respiratory tract infections - Lymphoma - Auto immune disorders such as sarcoidosis, amyloidosis or others - HIV - Immune deficiency disorders
However, a complete systemic examination with Biopsy report of the lymph node is mandatory to proceed for further comments.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
