What Could Echogenic Renal Medulla In Ultrasound Report Suggest?

Have had a limited abdominal ultrasound and the results show an echogenic right renal medula. I am unable to get an explanation of what that means in a way i can understand clearly. All i could understand was something about calcium and transperancy? Please help put it in layman terms i can understand.

Welcome to health care magic.

1.The report suggest there is a echogenic area in the right medulla - possibility of hemangioma can be think of.
2.If it is hyper echoic and causing posterior shadowing this can be stag horn calculus.
3.Other possibilities can be due to calcification in the medullary region.
4.Calcifications can be due to different systemic causes with calcium deposits.
5.In this case KFT - kidney function test will give findings if there is any calcification, an x-ray will be helpful in case of calculus and calcium, CT will be definitive.

Good luck.
Hope i have answered your query,
any thing to ask ? do not hesitate to ask.
