What Could Cause Sudden Unmanageable Bowel Movement?

I have had my bowels 'erupt' with little to no warning. It happens so quickly that I can't even make it to the bathroom. As a working person, I cannot deal with this. It has happened twice in the last 2 months. I get a very bad stomach cramp and then it happens. What could be causing this? What can I do?

Hi.
Thanks for your query.
Noted the history and understood the concerns.
Severe abdominal cramps along with sudden uncontrollable bowel movements can be due to severe attack of colitis or entero-colitis.
This can be due to an infection or some intrinsic bowel pathology.
I would advise you the following in such a situation:
Consult your Doctor for preliminary workup, referral for the Gastroenterologist for clinical evaluation, investigations as follows:
Tests of stool for three consecutive days.
Colonoscopy.
Tests of blood for CBC, sugar, thyroid and liver functions.
CT scan of the abdomen.
Per-rectal digital examination.
All this will give a proper diagnosis and a plan for proper management.
You may need a proper course of an antibiotic, metronidazole and other supportive treatment if the infection is found.
If there is any other specific diagnosis during the course of an investigations you will get a proper management.
