What Could Cause Numbness In Both Hands?

i have been experiencing numbness in both hands for several days it was most severe the first few day keeping me up most of the night. I am very active with my hands and do lots of intricate things with both hands. Just before the feelings of numbness came on i was doing yard work raking and stuff like that. what is another thing that concerns me is that my fingertips get hot but my arms get cold or visa versa. Somebody suggested i might have carpel tunnel ? I plan on going to see my doctor as soon as i can get in.

After going through your description of suffering the most likely treatable cause is- Carpal tunnel syndrome that is nerve (Median) compression at wrist. This leads to numbness and tingling sensation in thumb, index finger and difficulty in doing fine work. May be confirmed by nerve study (EMG/NCV).
The definitive treatment is small surgical procedure in which the tissue causing nerve compression is released. Meanwhile you can give her tricyclic antidepressant like pregablin after having a word with your local doctor.
