What Could Cause Increase In Pulse Rate And Strange Sensation In Throat?

Once in awhile, I'll be sitting watching TV and I get a funny feeling in my chest/throat and it seems like I should take a deep breath. The last time this happened I checked my pulse and it beat 7 times then stopped and then 7 times and stopped. Tonight it is beating non stop. What causes this?

if these episodes cause fainting or light headedness, then they should be evaluated furtuer.
