What Could Cause Fluctuating Blood Pressure Despite Regular Hypertension Medicine Intake?

Hi, my mother is 78 years old and taking hypertension medication. But lately her BP is fluctuating, sometimes it s 107/52, 102/49 then goes up to 166/54 then tonight it s 122/48. She is feeling okay though but i m concern, is that okay with that BP readings?

Hi,
Blood pressure varies with multiple things and if you measure it continsously also it will vary. Variation dependent factors are diurnal variation, stress, anxiety, methodology etc.
If the blood pressure were to have a high systolic or a high diastolic then it needs to be worried. Make sure, she is taking her medication regularly. Skipping doses and doubling the dose can cause complications. On thing I noticed her diastolic is almost constant.
Systolic variations are more dependent on persons movements, anxiety and tension. Its nothing to worry.
Hope it helps.
Any further query, happy to help again.
