What Could Cause Delay In The Growth Of Facial Hair At The Age Of 21?
I'm 21 and BARELY have any facial hair. I have been unsuccessful at growing a beard even when I don't shave for quite some time(I just start to look a bit goofy). No male on either side of my family has this problem. They all have full beards and have been able to grow them since late teens. Is there anything I can do? What's the chance that it'll grow in later?
Hello and welcome to HCM, Growth of facial hair and other secondary sexual characters develop by end of adolescence in males. However, the time is highly variable. The growth patterns also vary from one person to other. These factors are controlled by genetic factors as well as hormonal factors. Are all other secondary sexual characters well developed? If yes then there is nothing to worry about. The problem is cosmetic. You can manage the facial hair growth cosmetically. If there is deficient development of any other secondary sexual character then you need to consult a endocrinologist.
