What Could Cause Continuous Stomach Pain?

Hey I have been having pain in the stomach for two weeks now. At first I took loperamide and the pain subsided for two days. I then went to a chemist who prescribed Tegera Forte. Even after that the pain persisted. I then went for a stool test which returned negative. I was given Entergeminia and Ofloxacin & Ornidazole which I have taken for two days now. Still there is no respite. What could be the problem and what drugs can I use to get relief?

Hello

Thanks for writing to health care magic. My name is Dr Desai answering your question. Despite taking routine pills you seem not to have improvement. I would suggest USG abdomen to r/o other causes of pain. You can try with probiotics and antispasmodic drugs like hyoscamine. Please consult your physician.

Take care

Hi,
Welcome to health care magic,

Continuous stomach pain could have many causes which are acute gastritis or gastric ulcer or Helicobacter pylori infection or food allergy.

Since you have taken loperamide and tagera forte (secnidazole) and have not much relieved from your pain then it must be further evaluated by examination and various tests.

You should undergo routine blood investigations and H.pylori, liver function tests, urinalysis and abdominal ultrasound and upper gastrointestinal endoscopy (if pain persists longer) to detect the underlying cause.

Treatment is mainly depend on the cause but she may take symptomatic treatment meanwhile.

Entergermina and ofloxacin with ornidazole are good combination antibiotics but we should first confirm the diagnosis and then go for appropriate treatment.

Antacids like h2 blockers (ranitidine) or proton pump inhibitors (pantoprazole or rabeprazole) will help to reduce excess acid production in stomach.

One can also take digene gel or liquid or ulcero-protective agents like sucralfate or bismuth subsallicylate to reduce the burning sensation.

Apart from medications you should be careful with your diet like eat plain foods like boiled rice and green leafy vegetables without adding spices or oil.

Avoid oily,spicy and fast food.

Consult gastroenterologist for detailed medical history and clinical examination to diagnose the cause.

Thanks and Regards,
