What Could Cause Ankle Fluid Retention Post S/P TLIF At L4-5?

I am 2 months S/P TLIF at L4-5. I have started experiencing ankle swelling I ER the lady several days. It is extremely painful to ambulate , I have no history of HTN and no cardiac HX no redness, calf pain. Any idea what could be causing the fluid retention ?

I would suggest you to get x ray and ultrasound of the ankle as most common cause of such swelling is DVT. Ultrasound will make us in findout if this is the cause. Suppose DVT is not there then we have to find out other causes such as ankle sprain or ankle synovitis. I would suggest you to apply compression bandage and keep your foot elevated over pillow. If swelling does not subside then you need to visit your consultant.
