What Could Be The Ill Effects Of Stopping Carvedilol For Two Weeks Due To Unavailability?

what are the dangers of a heart patient (someone who had a triple bipass last october) who quit taking his prescription for carvedilol for two weeks then started taking it again, im concerned because he hasnt felt good and when i checked on his meds he said he ran out and his next dr. apt is next week so i called the drug store and the script was there ready to pick up. i got the meds, and i read the precautions and it says DO NOT STOP THIS MEDICATION WITHOUT DR. AUTHORIZATION. so im wondering if the effects of starting this med again would be more harm than good at this point?

Hi. You should not stop this drug without your doctor's advice and also no beta blockers should be stopped suddenly without monitoring BP and heart status. The heart rate, rhythm, BP may vary. If the drug is not available you can discuss with your doctor to take alternative beta blockers till the drug is available.

Regards
