Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
this morning and just now ive experienced a drainage coming out of my left nostril. Its like water dripping from my nose but is extremely bright yellow which i ve never seen before. Im just getting over a cold that i had last week and wondering if I have a sinus infection? I don t feel congested anymore and haven t for the last couple of days. Not sure what could be causing this abnormal but light drainage.
Hello, my name is Dr.Dorina Gurabardhi. I understand your concern. Yellow or green mucus is a clear sign that you have an infection. Some advices that I can give to you are : -Use antihistamines and decongestants.Decongestants cause the blood vessels in the lining of the nose to narrow, reducing blood flow to the area, so you're less congested and you produce less mucus. Antihistamines block or limit the action of histamines, those substances triggered by allergic reactions that cause the tissue in the nose to swell up and release more, thinner mucus (a runny nose). -Use guaifenesin, a type of medicine called an expectorant. Thinner mucus is easier to get out of the body. -Use a humidifier -Stay Hydrated Hope my answer was helpful, if you have any other questions I'll be glad to help, thanks!
