What Causes Yeast Infection While On Sprintec?

Hi, I had surgery for an ovarian cyst removal and the clean up my endometriosis about 3months ago. I was initially on depo them, but I switch back to sprintec after 3 years and recently I have often a yeast infection and it has not gone away in a month. What could be the cause of this?

Hello and welcome to HCM,
Sprintec and depo are hormonal preparations.
Yeast infection can occur due to side effect of long term antibiotics or immuno-suppressors like steroids.
These hormonal preparations also have a steroid base but they do interfere with immune system of the body.
Since, the yeast infection is persistent, I suggest you to get a vaginal swab done to followed by culture to exactly identify the organism causing the infection.
After identification, drug sensitivity should also be done to select the most appropriate anti-microbial effective against the infectious organism.

Thanks and take care
