What Causes Wound At The Back Of Ear Of An Infant?

My baby daughter -5 months- has a wound in the back of her right ear. It looks like an open wound a little cut... what should I do? We ve tried a eczema cream, prescribed by a pediatrician but it was only for her eczema. Is this wound because of the eczema? Is it a infection that has to be treated immediatly?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Dear,
Welcome to HCM.

If it is cut wound and it is deep, it may require suturing depending on the size of the wound. If the wound is small, clean it with normal saline and with dry cloth. Apply some antibacterial cream like soframycin or betadiene cream.

Hope to have given you desired information.
Feel free to followup for any queries.

regards,
Dr. Selvavinayagam
