What Causes White String Like Discharge After Ear Piercing?
I recently got my ears pierced, maybe two or more months ago and I went to put in a false guage which is roughly the size of a normal earring... when I put it in the end of this white, almost thick string like thing pushed it s way out with the end of the earring. I took the earring out and pulled at it and it came halfway out and I had trouble pulling in the rest of the way but it came out with a little peroxide. It was hard and stringy, almost like a little piece of muscle you would pull off a piece of steak or something. Any idea what it could have been?
You seem to have developed some infection at the site of ear piercing. This can lead to accumulation of purulent discharge . Keep the affected area clean and dry . Wash the affected area with lukewarm saline water twice daily. Apply a topical antibiotic cream like neosporin or mupirocin over the lesion twice daily. You might need a course of oral antibiotics if the discharge or pain still tends to persist or increase .
