What Causes White Spots On Arms Of A Child?

hi,my daughter who is aged 8 yrs has small white spots on her arms .this was seen during her birth too .now it has been noticed by my child too and more so when she is actively playing (swimming) etc ,when her arms tan , what is this condition ,is it a cause for concern ? please guide me

Hi Dear,

Understanding your concern. As per your query your child have small white spots on arms. Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query like vitiligo , tinea versicolor or pityriasis versicolor and could be hypopigmentation.

Need not to worry. I would suggest you to apply topical antifungal cream and take benadryl twice a day. Keep it clean and dry and wear loose clothes. Avoid itching and pricking these spots. If condition doesn't get well then consult dermatologist for proper examination . Doctor may prescribe antifungal like fluconazole along with corticosteroid ointment .
