What Causes White Spots In The Throat While Suffering From Tonsillitis?

Hi my 4 year old son was diagnosed with tonsillitis on Friday 9 December. His throat is swollen and his tonsils are full of white spots. I was wondering how long he will start being himself again as he's not really eating or drinking and very cranky. His throat is still red and tonsils are still full of white spots

Hi,

I have gone through your query and can understand your concern. It seems that your son is suffering from pustular tonsillitis that can be most probably due to bacterial infection. White spots seems to be pus pockets that further confirms bacterial infection. It will not resolve so soon on its own and you will have to get him treated.

Consult a physician/paediatrician and get evaluated. He can be advised a course of antibiotics like Augmentin, anti inflammatory painkillers like Ibuprofen, warm saline gargle, steam inhalation and use a humidifier in your room. Avoid spicy foods and drink plenty of warm fluids.
