What Causes White Bump Above Molars?

I had a white bump/cyst above one of my rear molars on the inside of my mouth. It first appeared about 24 hours ago, following a bad toothache. When I woke up this morning it had grown and was extremely painful. I took some advil and sprayed the cyst with chloraseptic to numb the pain, and now, just a few hours later, the cyst is completely down and my tooth no longer hurts. What happened? Should I see a dentist? Do I need a root-canal?

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain it seems that a white bump above a molar tooth along with severe toothache seems to be most probably due to formation of Dental Abscess and it occurs due to deep infection in the tooth and due to infection there is Pus formation below the root tips of the tooth that appears as a lump on the gum..
I would suggest you to consult a Dentist and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation and investigations like x ray can help in diagnosis and treatment can be done accordingly..
You can be advised treatment like Root Canal Treatment followed by capping of the tooth if tooth can be saved..
In case of gross decay extraction is advised...

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
