Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have got a weird feeling up my bum, i have had it numerous times before I can remember having it when I was a child as well. It feels like there is something moving around or something but wouldnt really describe it as being itchy. It comes and goes it isn't frequent at all and when it is there it doesnt last too long either. I'm not worried about it I just wondered what it could be?
Hi. Thanks for your query. Noted the history and understood your concerns. The weird feeling in the bum as if something is moving around but no itchy, comes and goes and does not last longer can be due to local muscular spasm. This can be idiopathic or can be due to compression over the nerve supply of the muscles affected causing the symptoms that you have. This is akin to facial tics and spasms. I would advise you the following in such a situation: Clinical evaluation by a Doctor and an actual examination by a Doctor of the affected area, thoraco-lumbar spine for any anomaly. MRI of the lower spine. Serum electrolytes when you get the feeling. All these will lead to the actual diagnosis and can lead to a proper management .
