What Causes Weakness In The Upper Arm While On Lipitor And Levothyroxine?
I started Lipitor hctz a few months ago. I had already been taking levrothyrozine for hypothyroidism and Nexxium for years. I have noticed a weakening in upper arm strength and have a chronic mild pain in the outer biceps - almost like when you have worked out too hard. I am 60, slightly overweight, do not regularly exercise but am a busy teacher and ardent housekeeper/gardener. Could this be a side effect?
Hello, i just read through your query concerning your weakness in upper arm strength and chronic mild pain in outer biceps. Well the Lipitor is most likely responsible for the problem as it is known to cause muscle spasms, muskuloskeletal pain in 2-5%, myalgia (muscle pain) in 3-8% and limb pain in 3-8% of patients taking them.
If the pain is not too much and you can tolerate it then continue using it or else try an alternative version like Rosuvastatin for the same purpose as it has minimal side effects. Hope that serves your query.
