What Causes Weakness In The Knees?

Sometimes my knee gives out on me. There was a snapping sound, but seems to have stopped. It feels weak although I can walk on it and it holds my weight. I know it is hard to diagnose over a computer, but does this sound like something to be concerned about? This started on Sunday. I hurt my knee Saturday, but it did not bother me until Sunday.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Since you have been hurt on your knee , it is quite possible that you have strained your knee ligaments. If the pain is minimal, then you have to give your knees rest for few days .

* Don't bear heavy weights.
* Apply a knee cap support over the knee and walk.
* Do stretching exercises in the morning.
* Do not rub or massage rigorously.
* If you notice swelling and develop severe pain with movement , then you need to get thorough investigation.
* It will take time to be back to normal in these cases. You need to be patient . You shall be fine do not worry.

Best regards,
Dr. Suhas Chauhan
