What Causes Weakness In The Hands?

It s about my 16 year old grandson. He is having problems with grip and also one of his hands is cold all the time and the other is hot. He s already had an mri. They had to get special permission to do this test since he is a child and his Mom was told it could get very painful maybe more than he can stand.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Decreased power of hand grip in the hand with coldness may be due to muscular dystrophy or vascular compromise or ulnar nerve palsy or spinal cord compression etc. Until examination is done it is difficult to say what it is. Use physical therapy, regular exercise and please consult your neurophysician he will examine and treat you accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
