What Causes Water Retention In Lungs After A CABG Surgery?
Hi My dad 75 years old underwent a CABG surgery in May and was on the path to recovery. His wounds had healed he has started doing his daily routines etc. He is also a diabetec patient but that as well was well in control. However last week he developed a cold due to sudden weather changes and things have taken a turn to the worst. His Blood sugar shot up to 400s and when insulin was administered still dint decrease a big level. When rushed to the hospital they say he has water retention in his lungs and that needs to be cleared and have him in the ICU. Is this common and how severe is this.
Your Dad is a known case of DM and Coronary Artery Disease, who also underwent CABG. Now he is having Hyperglycemia with Lung Infection (Pneumonitis) and Pulmonary edema. The condition is serious have to keep in ICU and treat.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
