What Causes Water Filled Bump On Inner Thigh?

I have a bump filled with what seems to me like water on the right side of my inner thigh. Yesterday it was simply a red mark that was somewhat swollen but then gradually throughout today s day a couple of bumps started growing that turned into one big lump. Im not sure what this is? Do I pop it? Is it somewhat of a blister?

Hello,

Welcome to Health Care Magic. I read your query and I understand your concern.

Depending on the size of the bump, the fluid filled sacs are divided in three groups; vesicles, blisters and bullae. You do not mention any other detail that may associated with the out burst of this lesion, like the itching or if the colour of the fluid is clear or coloured.
My impression is that it is a bullae formed from the friction between the hips.
It is not recommended that you pop the bulla or remove the skin covering your bulla, though it may be tempting. Do not try to burst or pop your blister on your own, since this can lead to an infection.
Blisters and bullae can usually heal naturally if they are left alone.
To avoid further irritation you can put a protective bandage over the area. A gauze pad is best since the fabric absorbs moisture while still allowing your bulla to breathe.

I hope I answered to your question. Don't hesitate to write again.

Take Care,
Dr. Ina Zaimi
