What Causes Water Blisters On Foot Of Diabetics?

My mother is a diabetic and has poor circulation in her legs and she had a water blister come up on her ankle area. It started out small but is continuing to get bigger and this morning when she got up there is another one that has come up on the same foot. What could be causing this?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello there,
Your mothers problem is concerning. I am worried that it could quickly progress. What I suspect is that it is cellulitis that she is developing which needs urgent attention. Please do not ignore and take her to a general surgeon who can examine and prescribe antibiotics and wound care as required. Diabetics are prone to these kind of infections.
Till then try to keep her sugars under control and give her enough water to drink.
Take care.
