What Causes Vomiting And Diarrhea In A 3 Year Old?

My 3 year old started throwing up late Monday night along with diarrhea. The diarrhea has been continual and vomiting stopped until today....now it's back! He has been drinking LOTS of water (even throughout the night he wakes wanting water) He keeps complaining that his stomach hurts. He has not ate hardly anything since Monday, a couple spoonfulls of broth, bite of a banana and 2 bites of a sandwich. I know the flu is going around this area. All he does is lay around and sleep. Every time he stands up and moves he just lays down and says his stomach hurts. He has mentioned a couple of times today that his feet hurt also. Are these symptoms of the flu? Should I be worried he's not eating? What else should I do?

Gastro enteritis(diarrhoea+vomiting) can be due to viral/bacterial/parasitic infection/infestation. So, the basic aim if treatment is to rehydrate the bay. SO, feed him regularly and give him oral rehydration solution continuosly after every vomiting and loose motion. Consult doctor immediately who can decide on child whether it requires antibiotics or not. All the best.
