A female friend, age 77, tells me that she has periodically vomited dark “stuff” and is also coping with diarrhea. She often complains of lower back pain. Her family lives 5 hours away and she refuses to tell her primary doctor about her issues. I notice that she has large bruising on her arms and she tells me she has it on her back. She lives alone. I try to check on her every couple of weeks. Any ideas on what she may be facing. How can I convince her to seek medical help?
