What Causes Vomiting Along With Joint Pain And Numbness In The Arms?

What do these signs and symptoms sound like to you? Vomiting that progresses to terrible joint pain, numbness in arms, cyst in eye that is growing and causing blindness. WBC count is high (27,000) but has come down to 19,900 after a couple days of IV antibiotics. RBC count was low but has doubled since starting on antibiotics. Creatinine was high but has come down now. All lab work has improved since starting on Rocephin and clindamycin but cyst on eye continues to grow and leg is continuing to swell.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

You seem to have a severe infection with arthritis (even 19000 WBC count indicates it.

The infection though being controlled is not yet completely gone. So you need a longer course of antibiotics ) IV high antibiotics can lead to vomiting as a side effect(which can be easily controlled with medication).

The joint pain due to arthritis increases with the stress of vomiting &numbness can be due to the weakness of infection or local nerve pressure while vomiting.

All of these can be managed well with expert advise &care. Please tell about your problems in treating doctor &get specific treatment.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Vasudha Jayant Athavale, General & Family Physician
