What Causes Varying Heart Rate And Skipping Of Beats?
Recently Iv e noticed in the past few weeks that my heart rate will vary from 60-90 beats per minute. It ll last a few minutes or an hour or two. My heart also will skip beats 1-2 times a minute. Today I noticed the skipped beat without the faster heart rate. It s a pause with a harder beat following. It s kind of a strange feeling but with no pain otherwise. Again it happens once a min. or maybe once in 2-3 minutes. Never noticed this before. I m 56yrs old and not in great but surely not in bad shape. I m 5ft 8in. and 180lbs but don t look it. For about 7mo.s now I ve been taking a small prescribed dose (12.5mg) of desipramine(a tricyclic anti depressant) to control my IBS symptoms which works quite well. Usual dose is 25-50 mgs for IBS problems per Dr. Could this med. be giving me problems like this at this dose or might it be other? As I m writing you I notice the skipped beats. Thanks for your response Brian S.
