What Causes Vaginal Bleeding Post A Hysterectomy?

Hi. I had a Da Vinci hysterectomy on 9/29/16 (kept ovaries) and eight weeks later I resumed sex. I tore my vaginal cuff on 11/25/16 and went in for a repair on 11/30/16 (only three stitches). I didn t have a drop of blood post hysterectomy, but have had bleeding for five straight days with no end in sight. The amount of blood and color have remained constant. I m terrified I m never going to run a marathon again or resume a normal sex life. I don t understand why I m still bleeding or why I wasn t healed after 8 weeks.

Hi,

The vaginal cuff might have been healed but reopened due to the sex after 8 weeks. It might have been forceful to tear the thing. The bleeding you have must be investigated for by USG pelvis or MRI to know the range & site of damage done.

Though you need not be panicky. It must be done earliest under a tibiotic umbrella. To avoid infection & further damage is done. Consult your operating surgeon earliest.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
