Hi,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
I have read your description and understand your concern.
Bleeding what you had following intercourse could be due to presence of uterine/
cervical polyp or inflammation of cervix called 'cervicitis'. Also, it could be occurrence of your period, since you state that it is irregular, caused due to hormonal irregularities.
However, it is advisable for you to take
emergency contraceptive pill within 72 hours of this
unprotected intercourse episode as you are not sure about why the bleeding is due to. Following this, you need to get
breakthrough bleeding within 3 weeks from the intake of the pills. Avoid sexual intercourse until the bleeding takes place following pill intake.
Following this, you need to do the following to rule out other causes which could have contributed to bleeding.
1. Per speculum examination and clinical evaluation by consulting Gynecologist.
2.
Ultrasound scan of abdomen and pelvis to know if there are any lesions present in uterus and cervix.
3. Blood levels of FSH and LH levels to know the hormone status.
Accordingly, you can consult Gynecologist with the reports for appropriate management.
Hope the information provided would be helpful.
All the best.
